3 tips to stay safe when on a motorcycle
Staying safe on your motorcycle is the key to getting home safely. You may think that safety revolves around other drivers, but the fact is that you can do a lot to keep yourself safe.
By following a few simple tips, you can stay safer when you ride, lowering your risk of an accident. It’s both a driver’s and rider’s responsibility to be cautious on the roadways, and following a few simple rules could save your life.
1. Remember to kick your tires before you ride
This might seem like an odd thing to do, but by keeping tab on your tires and inflation, you could prevent a serious crash. You always want your tires in good condition, so they can grip the ground well. If they are over or under-inflated, they won’t work as intended.
2. Slow down
Both drivers and motorcyclists can reduce their risk of serious injury by slowing down. Reducing your speed can help you if you do end up in a crash, too, since lower speeds mean there’s a lower risk of injury as well.
3. Practice emergency drills
Practice quickly turning, laying down your bike and other evasive maneuvers. You never know when one of them could become vital to saving your life. Become familiar with your motorcycle, so you don’t have to worry about knowing the controls or focusing on what you’re doing more than looking at the road.
These are a few tips to help you stay safer on the roads. Remember, if you do get into a crash, you still have options.
