Where does Sacramento rank on the list of best, worst drivers?

Every year, people across the U.S. eagerly await the publication of various reports ranking everything from graduate schools and hospitals to cars and retirement destinations. While this is certainly understandable, there is one report that perhaps doesn’t receive quite as much press, but which provides a very comprehensive look at traffic safety here in the U.S.

Earlier this week, Allstate Insurance Company released its tenth annual report ranking 200 U.S. cities in terms of which has the best drivers and which has the worst drivers. Here, the report arrived at these rankings after crunching the numbers on millions of car accident claims, as well as a variety of other factors such as city density, population and amount of rainfall/snowfall.

While a complete breakdown of the list is clearly beyond the scope of a single blog post, the five cities identified as having the safest drivers were:

  1. Ft. Collins, CO: Drivers average 14.2 years between accidents
  2. Brownsville, TX: Drivers average 14.2 years between accidents
  3. Boise, ID: Drivers average 14.0 years between accidents
  4. Kansas City, MO: Drivers average 12.9 years between accidents
  5. Huntsville, AL: Drivers average 12.6 years between accidents

Conversely, the five cities identified as having the worst drivers were:

  1. Worcester, MA: Drivers average 4.3 years between accidents
  2. Boston, MA: Drivers average 4.4 years between accidents.
  3. Washington, DC: Drivers average 5.1 years between accidents
  4. Springfield, MA: Drivers average 5.4 years between accidents
  5. Providence, RI: Drivers average 5.4 years between accidents

Closer to home, Sacramento came in at number 114 on the list with drivers averaging 8.8 years between accidents.

While this list certainly makes for an interesting conversation piece, it also serves to highlight just how important it is for those who have suffered serious life-altering injuries in a motor vehicle accident caused by another to consider speaking with an experienced legal professional to learn more about their options going forward.
