Car hits van in fatal California car crash
Four people were killed and three people were injured in a car crash that took place around 2 a.m. on Jan. 10 in Chula Vista. Police say that an Acura was speeding when it ran a red light and crashed into a van near Industrial Boulevard and Main Street. The Acura was going south on Industrial when it hit the Honda Odyssey going westbound on Main.
The impact sent the Acura careening off of the van and into a light pole, which sheered it in half. Three people inside of the car were ejected from the vehicle and later died at the hospital. The fourth deceased individual was also in the Acura as well as one of the critically injured victims. Two people inside the van at the time of the crash also suffered injuries. Police did not say whether drugs or alcohol played a role in the accident.
Those who are injured in a car accident that was caused by the negligence of another motorist may want to seek compensation for their injuries through a personal injury lawsuit filed with the assistance of an attorney against the at-fault driver. The damages sought by injured victims will often include the costs of necessary medical care and treatment. Money may also be awarded to an injured victim for lost wages or lost future earnings.
The surviving family members of a person who was killed in such an accident may also want the assistance of an attorney in seeking damages in a wrongful death lawsuit. In the event that the responsible motorist also died in the crash, the lawsuit could name the estate or personal representative of the negligent decedent as a defendant.
