Multiple injuries reported in California crash
One person was seriously injured, and up to six others suffered minor injuries in an accident involving five cars that took place at 6:05 a.m. March 8. Police say a Hyundai Sonata was going at a high rate of speed while traveling north on Sepulveda Avenue when it collided with a Yukon Denali that was in the left-turn lane going south on Sepulveda.
Both vehicles underwent damage on the passenger side after colliding, and the Yukon moved about 160 feet after impact. The Sonata then spun around several times before going airborne and hitting a Toyota Corolla. It then continued in motion before colliding with a Prius and coming to rest on top of a Toyota Tacoma. The man who was seriously injured was taken to Valley Presbyterian Hospital while others were taken to the hospital to be treated.
Those who are involved in car accidents may receive compensation for their injuries if the accident is caused by the negligence of another person. For instance, a passenger in a vehicle may be entitled to compensation from the driver who caused the crash. A driver who is hurt because another individual hit his or her vehicle may also pursue compensation in a personal injury case.
There are several types of compensation that may be available. Those who are taken to the hospital may recoup the cost of treatment. Individuals who have to miss work to get treatment or recover from their injuries may be compensated for their lost wages. Accident victims who cannot ever go back to work may be entitled to money that may make up for lost future earnings. An attorney may help an individual seek a settlement out of court or may assist in a formal trial.
